OHAUKWU, EBONYI STATE — May 24, 2026 — The villagers of Amaogelewu Izhia in Ohaukwu Local Government Area gathered in joyful celebration as they officially received a newly drilled motorized borehole, bringing an end to years of water challenges in the community.
The life-changing water project was provided by the Samuel Omogo Foundation (SOF) through the generous financial sponsorship of the Rotary Club of Lansing Foundation.
A Legacy of Empowerment and Support
During the commissioning ceremony, community representative Mr. Humphrey Ejike presented a heartfelt welcome address on behalf of the elders and villagers. He expressed profound gratitude to the founder of the Samuel Omogo Foundation, Rev. Fr. Dr. Peter Omogo, for remembering their village and providing a critical project that will significantly improve the health and well-being of the people.
He noted that the borehole would provide clean and safe drinking water for residents, reduce the incidence of waterborne diseases, and eliminate the burden of trekking long distances in search of water.
Beyond the provision of clean water, the community lauded Rev. Fr. Dr. Peter Omogo for his continuous humanitarian interventions across Ebonyi State and beyond, particularly his efforts in empowering individuals and supporting the education of less privileged children and families.
The Humanitarian Mission of the Samuel Omogo Foundation
Speaking during the event, community leaders acknowledged the remarkable contributions of the Samuel Omogo Foundation to human development and community transformation.
Since its inception, the Foundation has remained committed to serving humanity through the provision of clean water projects, educational assistance, healthcare support, empowerment initiatives, and other humanitarian interventions. Through the generosity of donors and partners from across the world, the Foundation has provided more than 570 water projects in communities, schools, churches, and healthcare institutions, positively impacting over 400,000 beneficiaries.
The Foundation has also continued to support educational advancement through scholarships, school development projects, classroom construction, learning materials, and financial assistance to indigent students. In addition, it has empowered numerous families through the distribution of sewing machines, motorcycles, and other livelihood-support programs designed to promote self-reliance and economic growth.
Community members particularly commended Rev. Fr. Dr. Peter Omogo for his unwavering dedication to serving the poor, vulnerable, and underserved. Through his priestly ministry and humanitarian leadership, countless lives have been transformed, communities have been uplifted, and hope has been restored to many who had previously lost faith in a better future.
Celebrating Broader Humanitarian Milestones
The villagers also took the opportunity to salute the immense accomplishments of the Samuel Omogo Foundation over the years. Special commendation was given to the Foundation’s recent milestone — the establishment of the Goodness Omogo Leadership Academy (GOLA), a world-class institution designed to provide quality education and raise future leaders who will positively impact society.
The community noted that the Academy stands as another testament to the Foundation’s commitment to sustainable development, youth empowerment, and educational excellence.
In a moving tribute to the Foundation’s ongoing mission, the community offered prayers for its founder, saying:
“Your love and passion for the service of God and humanity is very evident. Humanity shall continue to honour and celebrate you for your sacrifices. Amen.”

Fr. Omogo thanked the Rotary Club of Lansing Foundation for its generosity and commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable communities, stating that its support over the years has brought hope, relief, and sustainable development to countless families. He prayed that God would continue to bless the members, leadership, and benefactors of the Rotary Club of Lansing Foundation for their selfless service to humanity.
The community and the Samuel Omogo Foundation also expressed appreciation for the Foundation’s longstanding commitment to improving lives through the sponsorship of clean water projects and other humanitarian interventions that have brought hope, relief, and sustainable development to numerous communities.
