Samuel Omogo Foundation Commissions Motorized Borehole at Msgr. PatrickMary Anene Mmuo Charity Centre, Abakaliki
ABAKALIKI, EBONYI STATE — May 22, 2026
In another remarkable demonstration of compassion and humanitarian service, the Samuel Omogo Foundation (SOF) officially commissioned a newly constructed motorized borehole at the Headquarters of the Monsignor PatrickMary Anene Mmuo Charity Foundation, Azuiyiokwu, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.
The life-changing water project, facilitated by Rev. Fr. Dr. Peter Omogo through the Samuel Omogo Foundation, was generously sponsored by international donors Scott, Kelli, and Jack Pelak, whose kindness and commitment to humanity have brought hope and relief to countless people in the community.
The commissioning ceremony was filled with joy, gratitude, and celebration as community members, clergy, religious sisters, pupils, and well-wishers gathered to witness the official opening of the water facility, which is expected to serve the charity centre and the surrounding residents for many years to come.
Addressing a Critical Community Need
Speaking during the ceremony, the Board of Trustees Secretary of the Msgr. Mmuo Charity Foundation, Rev. Sr. Antonia Nwonu, expressed profound gratitude to the donors and the Samuel Omogo Foundation for responding to one of the most urgent needs of the community.

“The lack of adequate water supply for the people of this area has been very acute and injurious to the welfare and happiness of the people. The borehole water facility you have provided for us here in this charity centre will supply this great need in charity for the poor inhabitants of this centre and others.”
Her words reflected the deep appreciation of the beneficiaries, many of whom have struggled for years with access to clean and safe drinking water.
A Foundation Transforming Lives
The commissioning of this borehole once again highlights the outstanding humanitarian work of the Samuel Omogo Foundation, a foundation committed to transforming lives through practical acts of love, compassion, and service.
Over the years, the foundation has continued to make significant impact in rural communities through the provision of clean water projects, educational support, healthcare assistance, humanitarian outreach, and community development initiatives. Through its numerous borehole projects in schools, churches, villages, and charity centres, the foundation continues to restore dignity, improve public health, and bring hope to underserved communities across Nigeria.
The foundation’s mission goes beyond charity; it seeks to create sustainable change by improving living conditions and empowering communities. One of its unique qualities is its commitment to serving people without discrimination, regardless of denomination, tribe, or social background.
Celebration and Appreciation
The commissioning ceremony featured several colorful moments that reflected the joy and gratitude of the community.
The event began with a traditional presentation of kola, garden eggs, groundnuts, snacks, and bottled water, symbolizing peace, unity, and hospitality. Pupils of Jesus the Good Shepherd Primary School, Azuiyiokwu, also delivered beautiful welcome songs that added excitement and warmth to the occasion.
The highlight of the event was the ceremonial cutting of the ribbon by Rev. Fr. Dr. Peter Omogo, officially commissioning the motorized borehole for public use.
In recognition of his dedication and commitment to humanitarian service, Monsignor PatrickMary Anene Mmuo presented a Divine Mercy Plaque to Fr. Omogo as a token of profound appreciation for facilitating the project and bringing relief to the people.
Special appreciation was equally extended to the generous donors — Scott, Kelli, and Jack Pelak — whose financial support made the project possible. Their generosity has become a source of life, hope, and joy to many families who will benefit daily from clean and safe drinking water.
The event concluded with prayers, blessings, and group photographs as the people of Azuiyiokwu celebrated the arrival of a reliable source of potable water and a brighter future for the community.
May God continue to bless the Samuel Omogo Foundation, its donors, partners, volunteers, and supporters whose generosity continues to transform lives and communities through acts of kindness and faith in action.
